Search Institute is an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is
to provide leadership, knowledge, and resources to promote healthy children,
youth, and communities. To accomplish this mission, the institute generates
and communicates new knowledge, and brings together community, state, and
national leaders.
Community Guide to Helping
America’s Youth
Helping America’s Youth is a nationwide effort, initiated by President
George W. Bush and led by First Lady Laura Bush, to benefit children and
teenagers by encouraging action in three key areas: family, school, and
community.
America's Promise - The Alliance
for Youth
The mission of America’s Promise is to strengthen the character and
competence of America’s youth. We’d like to see every child in America have
the fundamental resources he or she needs to be ready for the future. These
Five Promises that all children should benefit from are:
- Caring adults in their lives, as parents, mentors, tutors, coaches
- Safe places with structured activities in which to learn and grow
- A healthy start and healthy future
- An effective education that equips them with marketable skills
- An opportunity to give back to their communities through their own
service
CincyAfterSchool
CincyAfterSchool represents the afterschool component of Cincinnati's
community learning center movement. A partnership of Cincinnati Public
Schools, the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati, and many lead agencies, providers,
parents, volunteers, and friends, CincyAfterSchool exists to improve
academic achievement and reduce risk-taking behaviors.
Winton Place Youth Center
Winton Place Youth Center serves the children of Cincinnati's
Winton Place neighborhood. WPYC offers a caring and safe atmosphere and the
skilled intervention of professionals and volunteers. The children in the
program progress academically, socially, and personally.
